Course hours
120-hour and 150-hour identify the training routes. Use the advertised hours as an initial study allowance, then adjust your plan as you learn how long the reading, activities and review take you.
It depends on the course and the time you can give it. For example, a 120-hour study allowance at 10 hours a week gives you 12 study weeks. Add spare time for busy weeks, review and tasks that need another attempt.
This guide uses transparent planning examples, not a promised finish time or measured learner average.

Choose study time you can keep up, then check your access deadline.
These figures answer different questions. Keeping them separate makes it easier to plan around a job or other commitments.
120-hour and 150-hour identify the training routes. Use the advertised hours as an initial study allowance, then adjust your plan as you learn how long the reading, activities and review take you.
Your weekly availability turns that allowance into a schedule. Studying 5 hours a week spreads the same allowance over twice as many weeks as studying 10 hours.
IntrepidTEFL Standard includes 6 months of access. Premium includes 24 months. That’s the access window for your chosen option, rather than the number of months you must spend studying.
The planner divides the selected course-hour allowance by your weekly study time, rounds up to whole study weeks and adds any spare weeks you choose.
Use a whole number from 1 to 40. Count time you can actually protect for study.
12 study weeks + 2 spare weeks
120 hours ÷ 10 hours per week = 12 study weeks, rounded up.
Compare your plan with the expiry date for your selected course. Standard has 6 months of access; Premium has 24 months. Calendar months don’t all contain the same number of days.
You may need more or less time than the course-hour allowance. This isn’t a completion guarantee, a minimum-time rule or an assessment of your readiness to teach.
Your selections stay on this page. With JavaScript disabled, the default example above and the schedule table below are still readable.
These examples use the advertised course hours as a planning allowance. They don’t include spare weeks, and they aren’t averages from past learners.
| Weekly study time | 120-hour allowance | 150-hour allowance | A way to arrange your time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 hours | 24 study weeks | 30 study weeks | Two 1-hour sessions + one 3-hour session |
| 10 hours | 12 study weeks | 15 study weeks | Five 2-hour sessions |
| 15 hours | 8 study weeks | 10 study weeks | Five 3-hour sessions, with breaks within each |
Allow for holidays, work peaks and any additional review. A 30-week example may exceed a 6-month access period, so check your selected option’s actual deadline before buying.
Here’s one way to organize 10 hours. Shift the balance as needed: a difficult grammar point or a lesson-planning task may take longer than expected.
Don’t plan only for reading. Make time to pause examples, try an activity, check your reasoning and revisit feedback.
Leave room for the part that takes longer.Work through the next section. Note a teaching idea and any question you need to revisit.
Work with the examples and any videos in your selected course. Pause to explain why a teaching choice might help a learner.
Draft an explanation, adapt an activity or work through a scenario from the material you’re studying.
Complete the relevant learning checks. Use the feedback to identify what needs another look.
Return to difficult points and improve a task. Check whether next week’s study time still looks realistic.
A self-paced course gives you flexibility. You’ll still need to complete its learning and assessment requirements, and your weekly availability can change.
Try a real lesson before you plan ↗Some topics will be familiar and others will need more attention. Use a real lesson to judge the reading and activities, but don’t assume every unit will take the same time.
Watching a lesson once is different from pausing, taking notes and considering how you’d adapt it. Allow time for the depth of study you want, including any extra materials in your chosen option.
Leave room to act on feedback and revisit material you haven’t understood. Follow the actual LMS progression and assessment requirements. This guide doesn’t promise a pass time or a particular retake policy.
Work shifts, family responsibilities and travel can interrupt an otherwise sensible plan. Use spare weeks as a buffer, then revise the plan when your availability changes. A buffer doesn’t extend course access.
Standard includes 6 months of access. Premium includes 24 months, plus extra teaching videos, scenarios with tutor-written feedback, practical tasks, tutor support and the job support bundle.
Both options include a downloadable content review. A saved review is a reference resource; it isn’t the same as continued access to the LMS and its activities.
Compare all course inclusions ↗Check the selected course and access period before continuing to payment. Once enrolled, use the expiry information for your account to set your own earlier study target.
If you already have access and think you’ll miss the deadline, contact support before it expires. Don’t assume an extension or a later upgrade is included.

It depends on the course format, your starting knowledge and your weekly study time. Using 120 hours as a planning allowance gives 12 study weeks at 10 hours a week, or 24 study weeks at 5 hours a week. Your actual completion time can differ; add spare time and check the access deadline.
Using a 150-hour planning allowance gives 15 study weeks at 10 hours a week, or 10 study weeks at 15 hours a week. Those are arithmetic examples, not promised completion times. The IntrepidTEFL route adds deeper child, very young learner and adult teaching content.
Don’t use the course title as a stopwatch or a guarantee of your personal pace. Plan for learning, activities, assessment and review, then follow the requirements shown in your course. The planner doesn’t determine any LMS minimum-time rule or pass requirement.
Don’t build a plan around a guaranteed 7-day finish. Completion depends on the course requirements, available time and what you understand. Check the actual course information and give yourself room to learn, practice and review.
A self-paced format lets you choose your study sessions within the access period. Identify time you can keep free each week, try a real lesson and revise your schedule once you’ve started. Keep a buffer for work peaks and other interruptions.
Standard includes 6 months of access and technical support. Premium includes 24 months and tutor support, along with extra teaching videos, practical tasks, scenarios with tutor-written feedback and the job support bundle. Check your selected option and account expiry date.
Access is a window for studying, rather than a required waiting period. Digital certification with QR verification is included after successful completion. The 150-hour route provides certificates at the completed 120-hour and 150-hour stages. Don’t schedule an application deadline around an unconfirmed certificate issue time.
